Maintenance Operations Manager

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Operations Manager to lead our Open Spaces team in providing high-quality maintenance and upkeep services for our open spaces, sportsgrounds, playgrounds, passive areas, golf courses, botanical gardens, and native vegetation across the Cumberland City Area. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing a range of activities, including but not limited to:
- Ensuring the daily presentation and maintenance of open spaces meet the highest standards
- Coordinating resources and personnel to undertake various tasks, such as mowing, edging, gardening, weeding, and chemical spraying
- Liaising with external contractors to deliver project works
- Supervising and coordinating team members to achieve seamless delivery of maintenance activities
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Relevant trade qualifications, such as Certificate III in Turf Management, Parks and Gardens, or Horticulture
- Demonstrated experience operating large plant and equipment, including tractors and implements, and broad area horticultural spray equipment
- A strong understanding of park maintenance and parks infrastructure related issues, current trends, industry best-practice, and new developments relating to maintenance services and parks operations
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders
This is a permanent, full-time position working 70 hours fortnightly with access to Council's 9-day fortnight Rostered Day Off arrangement. The salary and conditions of employment align with the NSW Local Government (State) Award, with a grade 7 salary range of $1,214.97 to $1,397.22 per week plus 11% superannuation. The commencing salary will be negotiated based on the successful applicant's qualifications, skills, and experience.
