We are seeking a highly skilled professional to join our team as an Empowering Independence Specialist. As part of our dedicated team, you will play a vital role in empowering individuals who are blind or have low vision to achieve their full potential and live independently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessment and Intervention: Conduct thorough assessments to identify the needs of clients and develop personalized intervention plans to enhance their mobility and independence.
  • Mobility Aids and Services: Provide expert advice on the use of mobility aids and coordinate services to meet individual needs, ensuring clients can navigate their communities with confidence.
  • Low Vision Aid Support: Offer guidance on the effective use of low vision aids, enabling clients to make the most of their remaining vision and maintain their independence.

Requirements:

  • Certification and Qualifications: Hold approved qualifications in Orientation & Mobility from a recognized association, such as the Orientation and Mobility Association Australasia (OMAA).
  • Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, enabling effective communication and collaboration with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
  • Experience and Adaptability: Possess relevant experience in providing client support and O&M services, with the ability to adapt to diverse situations and environments.
