Senior Dairy Cattle Stockperson

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate a team in an agricultural environment.

This role is responsible for planning all aspects of milk production, including management and coordination of milking shed routines. The Senior Dairy Cattle Stockperson will also be responsible for implementing reproductive programs, assisted breeding experiments and managing pastures and crops for livestock production.

  • Milk Production Planning: Coordinate and implement reproductive programs, assist in controlled breeding experiments, and plan calving procedures.
  • Pasture and Crop Management: Develop feeding plans and analyze produce to set quality standards.
  • Animal Health: Supervise animal health programs, handle sick or injured animals, and maintain an optimal environment for livestock wellbeing.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement and monitor quality assurance procedures ensuring compliance and proper documentation.
  • Farm Operations: Operate milking plant and equipment safely, perform calf feeding, assist with irrigation works, and transport stock if licensed.

Maintenance and repairs are also key components of this role, with tasks including maintaining accurate records for stock and inventory control, performing maintenance on sheds, fixtures, fences, and installing new equipment as qualified. This position requires a strong understanding of occupational health and safety requirements and food safety regulations.

Requirements:
  • AQF Certificate III in Agriculture / Dairy Production (or higher equivalent)
  • Three (3) years of recent and relevant work experience
