Salary : From $68,864 per year (plus superannuation)

Required skills and experience :

  • AQF Certificate III in Agriculture / Dairy Production (or higher equivalent)
  • Three (3) years of recent and relevant work experience

On behalf of our client, Global Skilled Employment, we are seeking skilled candidates for the position of Senior Dairy Cattle Stockperson to join the production team of a dairy farm in Nambrok, VIC 3847.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  1. Plan all aspects of milk production processes, including managing and coordinating milking shed routines.
  2. Coordinate and implement reproductive programs such as artificial insemination, herd fertility management, detection of estrous, and pregnancy.
  3. Assist in controlled breeding experiments aimed at developing improved livestock strains.
  4. Implement calving procedures, including conducting internal assessments to minimize stillbirths or injuries to cows or calves.
  5. Plan and manage pastures and crops for livestock production and develop feeding plans.
  6. Analyze produce to maintain quality standards.
  7. Supervise animal health programs, handle sick or injured animals, and maintain an environment consistent with the Australian Animal Welfare Standards and Guidelines – Cattle.
  8. Supervise work routines and staff performance, including less experienced employees such as assistant farmhands.
  9. Implement and monitor quality assurance procedures, ensuring compliance and proper documentation.
  10. Operate milking plant and equipment safely, including recording instrument data like milk vat temperatures and cow identification.
  11. Operate a dairy recycling system.
  12. Feed calves, including tubing colostrum.
  13. Assist with irrigation works as needed.
  14. Inspect livestock to assess feed efficacy.
  15. Handle and store chemicals safely, including preparing and applying chemicals.
  16. Operate farm vehicles, plant, and equipment, ensuring proper maintenance and reporting any malfunctions.
  17. Perform maintenance on sheds, fixtures, fittings, fences, and install new equipment where qualified.
  18. Transport stock, feed, and equipment with appropriate licenses.
  19. Maintain accurate records for stock and inventory control.
  20. Ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
  21. Contribute to and adhere to OHS requirements.
  22. Operate computer systems and software related to farm management.
  23. Coordinate responses to occupational health, safety, and animal welfare emergencies.
  24. Participate in industry training sessions and workshops as required.
