As the Lead Payroll Officer, you will be responsible for managing and processing a fortnightly payroll for approximately 3,500 employees. You will ensure that all payroll activities are executed accurately and in compliance with relevant regulations. This role involves supervising a small payroll team, implementing efficient processes, and addressing any payroll-related issues promptly.
Key Responsibilities:- Oversee and manage the processing of a fortnightly payroll for approximately 3,500 employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Lead and mentor a payroll team, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality performance and professional development.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll regulations and laws.
- Review and validate payroll data, including hours worked, leave balances, and deductions.
- Address and resolve any payroll discrepancies, inquiries, or issues from employees in a timely and professional manner.
- Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to manage payroll-related activities, such as benefits administration and tax reporting.
- Implement and maintain payroll systems and processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Prepare and analyze payroll reports for management, highlighting trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement.
- Stay updated on changes in payroll legislation and best practices, and recommend adjustments to payroll processes as needed.
- Proven experience managing payroll for a large organization, with a strong understanding of payroll systems and regulations.
- Experience in supervising and developing a payroll team.
- Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, MYOB) and MS Excel.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
