Position Overview:

We are seeking a qualified candidate to fulfill the role of Aircraft Support Officer within our Melbourne Ramp team, focusing on our Domestic B operations.

Reporting Structure:

This role reports directly to the Ramp & Catering Manager in Melbourne.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all apron operations during assigned shifts.
  • Act as Team Leader when necessary.
  • Supervise on-duty Team Leaders and Aircraft Support Officers.
  • Assist the Ramp Manager with administrative tasks and reporting duties.
  • Manage aircraft towing during repositioning, coordinating with Engineering, Network Operations, and relevant airport authorities.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures among all staff.
  • Coordinate coverage for staff absences to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Manage staff overtime to ensure proper shift coverage and equitable distribution.
  • Oversee catering and freight operations on the apron.
  • Collaborate with other departments and suppliers to address daily operational matters, including GSE serviceability.
  • Ensure all GSE inspections are performed and any faults are reported.
  • Assist in training and onboarding new employees.
  • Conduct basic audits to promote continuous improvement and adherence to company policies.
  • Provide operational support as needed, including loading/unloading and other turnaround tasks.
  • Remain on-site until all assigned duties are completed.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by the Ramp Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a supervisory capacity.
  • Background in the airline or related industry.
  • Ability to obtain an ASIC (Aviation Security Identification Card) and airside driver's license.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • High level of professionalism.
  • Willingness to work shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
  • Possession of a valid state driver's license is mandatory.
  • Excellent physical fitness.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and a commitment to timely performance.
