Overview:

We are seeking a qualified candidate to fulfill the role of Leading Hand - Aircraft Support Officer within our Melbourne Ramp team, focusing on our Domestic B operations.

Reporting Structure:

This role will report directly to the Melbourne Ramp & Catering Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all apron activities during your shift
  • Act as Team Leader when necessary
  • Supervise on-duty Team Leaders and Aircraft Support Officers
  • Assist the Ramp Manager with administrative tasks and reporting
  • Manage aircraft towing for repositioning, coordinating with Engineering, Network Operations, and the relevant Airport authority
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures among all staff
  • Arrange coverage for staff absences to maintain operational efficiency
  • Manage staff overtime to ensure proper shift coverage and fair distribution
  • Oversee catering operations on the apron
  • Supervise freight operations on the apron
  • Liaise with other departments and suppliers to address daily operational matters, including GSE serviceability
  • Ensure all GSE inspections are completed and any issues are reported
  • Support the training and onboarding of new personnel
  • Conduct basic audits to promote continuous improvement and adherence to company policies
  • Provide operational support as needed, including assistance with loading/unloading and other turnaround tasks
  • Remain on-site until all assigned duties are completed
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by the Ramp Manager

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a supervisory capacity
  • Background in the airline or related industry
  • Ability to obtain an ASIC (Aviation Security Identification Card) and airside driver's license
  • Strong communication skills
  • High level of professionalism
  • Willingness to work shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends
  • Valid state driver's license is mandatory
  • Excellent physical fitness
  • Team-oriented with a commitment to punctual performance
