Open Pit Geologist

Advanced mining operations require skilled professionals to oversee geological activities and ensure efficient extraction of valuable minerals. This role is designed for a geologist with expertise in open pit settings, providing an opportunity to utilize their knowledge and experience in a dynamic environment.

This position involves coordinating the collection, analysis, and interpretation of geological data, including mapping, logging, and sampling activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for collating and reporting geological data accurately and efficiently, while also contributing to production reconciliations, monitoring product quality, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Provide comprehensive geological support to clients through effective coordination of data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Develop and maintain accurate geological records, ensuring timely and reliable reporting.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor geological conditions, identify areas for improvement, and implement changes as necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to achieve operational excellence and drive business growth.
  • Support the development of strategic plans and initiatives to enhance geological services and improve overall performance.
Required Skills and QualificationsQualifications and Experience
  • Tertiary qualification in Geology or a related field, with honors viewed favorably.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in open pit operations, with a strong understanding of geological processes and principles.
  • Proven experience in geological mapping, logging, and sampling, with proficiency in relevant software applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
