We are recruiting a Geologist Open Pit for the Leading Gold Mining Company in Australia - Perth Background
The Geologist - Open Pit is responsible for coordinating and participating in all open pit grade control functions, demonstrated by accurate and timely geological delineation of the ore and meeting the surface mining department schedule
Qualifications Required

Bachelor of Science, majoring in Geology

Current "C" Class Western Australian Drivers Licence.

Desired Experience & Competencies

Proven experience in Open Pit Mine Geology and grade control practices.

An advanced understanding of geological interpretation and 3D modelling techniques, block modelling, QAQC protocols, grade control systems and reconciliation.

Member of Professional Association, AIG or AusIMM

Intermediate skills using Surpac and Vulcan mining software

Demonstrated ability to plan and execute field programs with mínimal direction.

Intermediate computer literacy using the Microsoft Office suite.

Demonstrate ability to maintain or exceed best industry practice in all geological and environmental tasks.

Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.

St Johns Senior First Aid certificate (desirable).

Awareness of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations

Specific Role Requirements

Supervise the collection, storage and validation of geological data such as pit mapping, drilling data and stockpile data.

Plan and supervise effective grade control practices and ensure that quality control is maintained at the highest possible level.

Prepare and maintain grade control and geological models in conjunction with the Senior Open Pit Mine Geologist

Assist Senior Mine Geologist in the design, implementation and supervision of RC grade control drilling programs

Develop ore and waste mark-outs utilising Surpac / Vulcan modelling software

Reconciliation of mining production and stockpiles on a monthly bias or as directed.

Prepare and present regular reports and updates on Mine Geology for both internal and external purposes.

Supervise the use of, and seek to continually improve geological processes to achieve and or exceed specified goals, cost and safety targets.

Contractor supervision and management

Ensure that all plans and instructions are provided to the contractor within the agreed lead times

Support Senior Open Pit Mine Geologist in meeting company objectives

Provide input to technical services to maximise output and ore recovery at lowest cost over life of mine

Provide feedback to pit technicians on job performance

Commit to maintaining health, safety and security standards and principles, through the identification of potential risks throughout the Company
