Hiring HSE specialists is a crucial task for many organizations in the Oil and Gas sector. One of these positions, the HSE Specialist, plays a pivotal role in ensuring the health, safety, and environmental well-being of team members and customers.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in developing and reviewing risk assessments/job safety analysis to support the HSE management system and business activities.
- Maintain facility legal and other requirements registers.
- Provide advice to local management on HSE regulatory compliance and applicable industry practices.
- Work with facility management to prepare Business Continuity Plans.
- Develop and implement HSE training programmes and HSE Training Matrices.
- Implement HSE controls and Bridging documents for personnel undertaking work at customer rig sites.
- Encourage and promote safe working practices, observing, intervening, and correcting at-risk conditions/behavior.
- Support operational tenders and supply chain database registration.
- Conduct facility HSE audits and participate in workplace inspections.
- Promote near-miss reporting and record/investigate workplace incidents.
- Coordinate waste streams and waste disposal to maximize re-use and recycling opportunities.
- Collect and monitor data for Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) reporting.
- Maintain Emergency Response Plans and schedule/emergency related drills.
- Document and develop facility-specific Level III HSE procedures.
- Monthly HSE reporting on progress of HSE key performance indicators and objectives/targets.
- Support HSE communications, including meetings, tool box talks, and management reviews.
The ideal candidate will have experience in the Oil and Gas sector and/or HSE, be proficient in IT (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint), possess strong communication and presentation skills, and be able to work collaboratively as part of a team.
A recognised HSE qualification (minimum Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety) and understanding of ISO 45001/ISO 14001 management system standards are preferred.
