Urban Planning Trainee

Develop a career in urban planning with our two-year trainee program. You will gain hands-on experience and structured training in development assessment, statutory planning, and customer service.

This role involves working with council staff to provide advice on planning and development matters. You will assist with assessing proposals, prepare reports, and ensure applications meet legislative requirements.

You must be enrolled in a tertiary course leading to a qualification in town planning or a related field. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are also essential.

The salary for this opportunity begins at $43,024 (T04 Grade) plus 12% super.

This is a two-year full-time temporary position offering flexible working arrangements including accrued time off. You will work in a supportive team environment with experienced mentors.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Tertiary course leading to a qualification in town planning or a related discipline
  • Strong interest in development assessment and statutory planning
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic understanding of relevant planning legislation and regulations
