Urban Planning Trainee Opportunity

The City of Canterbury Bankstown is one of the largest Councils in NSW with a diverse community.

This two-year fixed-term position provides hands-on experience and structured training in urban planning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide planning and development advice through Council's Duty Planner and pre-lodgement services
  • Assist with assessing development proposals and related applications
  • Support customers via counter, phone, and email interactions
  • Evaluate applications for legislative compliance
  • Prepare reports, memorandums, and correspondence on development matters
  • Conduct site inspections and coordinate feedback from internal and external stakeholders
Requirements:
  • Enrolment in a tertiary course leading to a qualification in town planning or a related discipline
  • A strong interest in development assessment and statutory planning
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A basic understanding of relevant planning legislation and regulations
  • A commitment to continuous learning and a proactive work ethic
