Pastoral Care Coordinator

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Pastoral Care Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our pastoral care team, you will utilise your expertise to provide emotional and spiritual support to patients, their families and staff.

This is a permanent part-time role working 3 days per week (22.8 hours) supporting patients in palliative care, rehabilitation and Older Persons Mental Health services.

You will work closely with staff, volunteers and other healthcare professionals to enhance the spiritual and emotional wellbeing of patients and families.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing pastoral care and support to patients, families and staff
  • Sharing your expertise with staff to support spiritual needs of patients
  • Coordinating carer support groups and networking with religious leaders and services
  • Developing resources and activities to enhance spiritual and emotional wellbeing
  • Liaising with managers, case managers and attending meetings as required
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A strong understanding of people living with life-limiting illness and journeys of grief and bereavement
  • A personal and active Christian faith and church involvement
  • Theological/Pastoral Care qualifications and experience
  • Palliative care experience desirable
  • Demonstrated capacity to pastorally care for and enhance wellbeing of those in need
  • Highly developed communication skills including listening, compassion and empathy
