Role Overview

This role offers a unique opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and their families.

As an Indigenous Service Support Officer, you will play a crucial role in providing culturally appropriate support and services to youth justice staff and relevant community stakeholders.

  • Assist and support youth justice staff and relevant community stakeholders in culturally appropriate assessment, case planning, and interventions for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and their families in accordance with relevant legislative provisions, statutory delegations, departmental policies, procedures, and contemporary best practice.

  • Implement culturally appropriate individualized case plans through designing and implementing intervention strategies, negotiating with service providers, and linking clients to the services/supports they require (including formal and informal services, government, and non-government agencies).

  • Undertake a range of record and information management tasks including maintenance of case notes and records, preparation of reports, and performance reporting.

  • Participate productively and collaboratively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team involving a range of internal and external stakeholders and service providers to achieve quality casework outcomes.
