
Child Protection Specialist Role

This role is for a Senior Specialist in Child Protection to join the counselling service in South Western Sydney.
Key Responsibilities- Provide expert support and interventions to improve the emotional, social and mental wellbeing of children, young people, parents/carers and their families.
- Conduct trauma-informed practices, case coordination, client-focused advocacy, liaison and consultation with other healthcare professionals.
- Collaborate across services to ensure clients receive the necessary care when needed.
- A Social Work degree providing eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) or Full registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia.
- Extensive postgraduate clinical experience in providing counselling, groupwork, parenting and case management interventions to clients affected by child protection incidents.
- Demonstrated knowledge of child protection issues, including relevant legislation and guidelines, and the appropriate response for clinical practice.
The Child Protection Counselling Service sits within the broader Prevention and Response to Violence Abuse and Neglect (PARAVAN) team, providing a trauma-specific service responding to violence, abuse and neglect involving children and young people.
