Aboriginal Child Protection Specialist

We are seeking an experienced professional to work with vulnerable children and families in our community.

This role requires sensitivity, respect, and a collaborative approach when working with parents, family members, children or young people, and other agencies to address safety and well-being concerns.

  • Assist families in identifying goals that align with their needs and provide supportive assistance through home visits
  • Develop safety plans and conduct thorough risk assessments
  • Manage complex cases and situations, including working with clients and their families who require high levels of support and intervention

As an Aboriginal Child Protection Specialist, you will have the opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of children and families, while being part of a supportive and inclusive team.

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess excellent communication skills, a valid driver's licence, and a current paid working with children clearance number.

Additionally, you will need to confirm your Aboriginality by providing documentation or written confirmation from 2-3 reputable Aboriginal organisations within the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular home visits to assess family needs and develop individualised support plans
  • Collaborate with other agencies and professionals to ensure effective case management and coordination
  • Provide education and support to families on child protection and parenting practices
