Specialist Counsellor

The South Western Sydney Local Health District seeks an experienced Child Welfare Specialist Counsellor to provide specialist counselling and interventions to families affected by child protection, violence, and trauma incidents.
This role requires a social work degree or registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia. The ideal candidate will have extensive post-graduate clinical experience in providing counselling, groupwork, parenting, and case management interventions.
The successful candidate will be able to engage with difficult clients, prioritise workload, manage stress, and apply advanced reasoning skills in complex situations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing trauma-informed interventions and responses
- Coordinating cases, including intake, assessment, case planning, and referrals
- Advocating for clients and liaising with other health professionals
- Collaborating across services to ensure clients receive comprehensive care
The position is based at Ingleburn Community Health Centre, with travel required to other community health centres across the district.
