Job Overview

  • Deliver Primary Medical Care

The successful candidate will provide primary medical care to patients in accordance with professional standards and legislation.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to achieving and maintaining the health and wellbeing of Defence members.

Key aspects of this role include assessing Defence personnel for fitness for duty and providing care that supports their health and wellbeing before and after deployments.

Role Requirements

  • High levels of personal integrity and ethical behavior are essential for this position.
  • Current unconditional and unrestricted registration as a Medical Practitioner, General in Australia with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) is required.
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP), Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM), or Vocational Registration is also necessary.
  • A minimum of two years full-time postgraduate general practitioner experience in a general practice setting within the last five years, or part-time equivalent, is required.
  • Recent participation in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities in accordance with AHPRA is expected.
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID009) certification is mandatory.

Security Clearance

  • Australian citizenship is required to obtain the necessary Baseline Security Clearance for this role.
  • Enlistment in the Defence Force is not necessary to work as a civilian on-base, and your job will remain at the Defence location even if the personnel you care for are deployed.
