Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Customs Broker with a strong background in customs brokering to join our team as a Freight Forwarding Specialist. This is an exceptional opportunity for a skilled professional to take on a leadership role within our rapidly expanding business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Verify and submit Formal Import Declarations in accordance with Customs and Biosecurity legislation, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
  • Mentor and guide compilers/classifiers to enhance compliance standards and improve overall performance.
  • Process and classify commodities, ensuring accurate and timely clearance.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including ABF and DAWE, to facilitate smooth import clearances.
  • Identify and report errors or inaccuracies in import declarations to team members, ensuring prompt resolution.
  • Monitor and manage the expiry dates of registered documents and discharge expired securities, maintaining a high level of compliance.
  • Work closely with clients to achieve KPIs, ensuring successful processing of import clearances and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Perform other duties as specified by the manager, contributing to the overall success of the team.

Requirements

  • Current ABF license, including DAWE accreditation.
  • Proven experience in customs brokering, with a strong understanding of customs legislation and regulations.
  • Ability to obtain required CPD points within the CPD year, demonstrating a commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • High degree of numeracy, literacy, and analytical skills, with excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Commercial focus and exceptional customer service skills, with a strong ability to build and maintain relationships.
  • Adaptable, ethical, and hands-on approach, with a strong ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to effectively interact and network with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate the smooth movement of shipments.
  • First-class communication skills, both written and verbal, with a strong ability to articulate complex information.
  • Ability to prioritize and time-manage, with a strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
