Cultural Liaison Officer Identified

Role Overview

This role is focused on enhancing case management and cultural competency in the supervision of offenders subject to a supervision order under the Dangerous Prisoners (Sexual Offenders) Act 2003. The successful candidate will work closely with Community Corrections staff to identify and build cultural connections in the community, ensuring supervised individuals' social needs are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to case management activities by supporting and liaising with Community Corrections staff to enhance case management and cultural competency.
  • Work with Case Managers to identify and build their cultural connections in the community to ensure supervised individuals' social needs are met.
  • Ensure the timely provision of services and advice to the Courts, Parole Board, and other agencies regarding supervised individuals.
  • Develop connections with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to work collaboratively with Case Managers if issues arise during a supervised individual's order period.
Requirements
  • Ability to work in a culturally competent way with family members to help support and encourage those on Orders to contribute to their community in a positive way.
  • Capacity to link those on Orders with services and programs to assist them to live a life away from crime.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate effective collaboration with Community Corrections staff and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community groups.
