About the Opportunity

Pioneer Water Tanks is seeking a seasoned Senior Steel Estimator to join our team at our Bellevue, WA location. As a key member of our commercial sales team, you will play a crucial role in providing accurate, timely, and compliant package estimates for our clients, ensuring seamless project execution and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with our engineering and compliance departments to ensure all aspects of submissions meet specified documentation and safety, quality, and cost requirements standards are fulfilled.
  • Work closely with our project management and fabrication teams to guarantee a smooth transition into production, maintaining profitability and promised schedules.
  • Provide input into the 'buildability' of projects during the design phase to ensure that the design is generated in the most cost-effective manner.
  • Review preliminary specifications and drawings to determine scope of works and develop project scope in consultation with the Project Manager and the client.
  • Prepare accurate and timely Bills of Quantities and/or cost plans, ensuring compliance with legislation, regulations, and services requirements.
  • Send out tender packages to approved subcontractors, suppliers, trades, etc., and undertake a comprehensive review of subcontractor and other pricing.
  • Maintain knowledge of the latest design and innovative construction techniques to provide the best solutions to clients.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in structural steel and sheet steel estimating for manufacturing/fabrication industry.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of engineering/architectural drawings and understanding scope of works.
  • Ability to utilise superior organisational skills to work efficiently and effectively in high-pressure environments.
  • Self-motivated individual with initiative to deliver outcomes, meet project deadlines, and accurately read and interpret specifications confidently.
  • Demonstrable experience in compiling tenders and quotes, negotiation skills in a similar role/position, and high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
