We have a great opportunity for a Senior Legal Counsel to join our friendly and hard-working team ideally on a full-time basis. Using your previous experience, you will work within the Contracts & Risk team providing efficient and reliable assistance to our technical consultants and clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft and Negotiate Contracts

Draft and negotiate consultancy services contracts, standard form contracts/subcontracts and other commercial agreements to ensure they meet our company's needs and comply with statutory regulations.

Contract Analysis

Analyse contracts to ensure they comply with statutory regulations, insurance obligations and our Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.

Commercial Document Review

Independently review and provide advice on leases and other commercial documents to ensure they meet our company's needs and comply with relevant laws and regulations.

Risk Management

Analyse potential risks involved with specific contracts terms and conditions and escalate any risk concerns where required to ensure our company's interests are protected.

Professional Development

Participate in technical and/or professional associations and stay up-to-date with legislative changes to ensure our company remains compliant and competitive.

Contract Maintenance

Review and maintain contract terms and conditions and provide input to insurance policy renewals to ensure our company's interests are protected.

Collaboration and Communication

Work efficiently and effectively with third parties to ensure statutory compliance and minimize contractual risk and exposure.

Project Delivery

Deliver a high standard of work, ensuring deadlines are met and clients are kept informed.

Status Reporting

Create regular status reports regarding progress on projects to ensure our clients are informed and satisfied.

Training and Development

Contribute to training programs for non-legal staff to ensure they have the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their roles effectively.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Relevant Qualifications

A minimum of 5 years' experience in either an in-house legal team of an engineering/environmental science consultancy, or within a law firm will be highly regarded.

Key Skills

The ideal candidate will also have:

  • Relevant Legal degree.
  • Experience in negotiating contracts and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail focused and able to work with tight timeframes to meet internal client needs.
  • Computer literacy and excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent business judgment and high level of professionalism.
  • Highly organized, excellent analytical thinking skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Willingness to explore and recommend commercially viable options and solutions to the business and to our teams you support.
