Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Counsel to join our Contracts & Risk team. As a key member of our team, you will provide efficient and reliable assistance to our technical consultants and clients, working on a wide range of projects and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft and Negotiate Contracts
Draft and negotiate consultancy services contracts, standard form contracts/subcontracts and other commercial agreements, ensuring they comply with statutory regulations, insurance obligations and our QMS/policy requirements.
Contract Review and AnalysisAnalyse contracts to ensure they meet our business needs, identifying potential risks and opportunities for improvement.
Commercial AdviceProvide commercial advice on contracts and agreements, leases, and other commercial documents, ensuring they are compliant with relevant laws and regulations.
Risk ManagementAnalyse potential risks involved with specific contracts terms and conditions and escalate any risk concerns where required, ensuring our business is protected.
Professional DevelopmentParticipate in technical and/or professional associations and stay up-to-date with legislative changes, ensuring our business remains compliant and competitive.
Contract ManagementReview and maintain contract terms and conditions, providing input to insurance policy renewals and ensuring our business is well-managed.
Client CommunicationWork efficiently and effectively with third parties to ensure statutory compliance and minimize contractual risk and exposure, delivering a high standard of work and meeting deadlines.
Reporting and AdministrationCreate regular status reports regarding progress on projects and contribute to training programs for non-legal staff, ensuring our business is well-informed and up-to-date.
Requirements
- Experience
A minimum of 4 years' experience in either an in-house legal team of an engineering/environmental science consultancy, or within a commercial law firm will be highly regarded.
EducationA relevant Legal, Commerce or Business degree is essential.
SkillsExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to negotiate contracts and work with tight timeframes to meet internal client needs.
Computer LiteracyComputer literacy and excellent attention to detail are essential, with the ability to work with a range of software and systems.
Business JudgmentExcellent business judgment and a high level of professionalism are required, with the ability to make informed decisions and provide commercial advice.
Organisation and Analytical SkillsHighly organised, with excellent analytical thinking skills and problem-solving abilities, able to work independently and as part of a team.
