
Older Adults Mental Wellness Consultant

The Older Persons Community Mental Health Clinician plays a pivotal role in delivering recovery-focused clinical services. This includes assessment, care coordination, intervention, liaison, and review for older people with mental illness or moderate-severe behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities:- Conducting comprehensive mental health assessments to inform treatment plans.
- Providing evidence-based interventions tailored to the needs of older adults experiencing mental illness or presenting with moderate to severe behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia.
- Collaborating effectively with consumers, their families, carers, and other stakeholders to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Employing a collaborative, strengths-based approach to the care of mental health consumers.
- Tertiary qualifications and current registration with the relevant Australian healthcare regulatory body are essential. Alternatively, tertiary qualifications in social work, counselling, or welfare may be considered with eligibility for membership in a relevant professional association.
- Demonstrated experience in contemporary Older Persons Mental Health practice is highly desirable.
- A thorough understanding of the NSW Mental Health Act (2007) is required.
- The ability to maintain a current unrestricted drivers' licence is necessary due to the requirement for long-distance driving and potential travel.
The role necessitates extensive driving and may involve frequent travel.
