About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Global Trade Services Assistant General Counsel to join our team at TE Connectivity. As a key member of our Law Department, you will play a critical role in providing strategic and operational compliance services for our global operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on trade laws and regulations in the Asia & Pacific region, including export controls, restricted parties, economic sanctions, and customs matters.
  • Collaborate with our global trade compliance teams to develop and implement effective trade compliance programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct risk assessments, investigations, and audits to identify and mitigate trade compliance risks.
  • Develop and implement corrective action plans to address trade compliance issues.
  • Work closely with our government affairs function to lead interactions with trade-related government regulators and prepare responses to internal and external audits and government inquiries.
  • Manage outside counsel and trade experts to ensure compliance with trade laws and regulations in multiple countries.
  • Support our merger, acquisition, and divestiture activities related to trade compliance.
Requirements
  • 5-7 years of experience in trade controls and policy, with a mix of law firm, in-house, and government experience.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to work as a collaborative business partner across geographies, functions, and product lines.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and persuasively both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience navigating complex trade law issues and dealing with key trade regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to manage projects independently and work within cross-functional teams to resolve legal questions and implement long-term mitigation strategies.
  • Deep and thorough understanding of customs, free trade zones, bonded warehouses, export controls, and sanctions regulatory regimes in the People's Republic of China.
  • Substantial knowledge of trade compliance laws and regulations of Malaysia, Japan, Thailand, Singapore, and South Korea.
  • Ability to manage trade experts and trade matters involving multiple countries' laws and regulations.
  • Experience in trade compliance program development and implementation, preferably with a global perspective.
  • Willingness to adapt to a flexible schedule to accommodate multiple time zones.
