Palliative care specialists work closely with multidisciplinary teams to provide high-quality care for patients with complex needs.

Key responsibilities include participating in and providing medical support to the interdisciplinary team across hospice, community and hospital based palliative care programs under the supervision of experienced consultants.

  • Provide expert advice and support to primary care teams on patient management and treatment options.
  • Collaborate with families and carers to teach them skills and strategies to effectively manage patient care at home.
  • Work closely with healthcare professionals to coordinate access to necessary equipment and resources.

The North Canberra Hospital provides a comprehensive range of services including acute and sub-acute care to residents of the northside of Canberra and Southern NSW.

About the Role:

The Palliative Care Registrar will be responsible for working closely with the interdisciplinary team to ensure that patients receive seamless and coordinated care throughout their journey.

Requirements:

  • Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
  • Current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011.
  • Pre-employment National Police Check.
  • Compliance with Canberra Health Services Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination policy.
  • Compliance with North Canberra Hospital Credentialing and scope of clinical practice requirements for medical professionals.

This is a temporary position available for a period of 6 months with the possibility of extension up to less than 12 months and/or permanency.
