Commercial Manager – Rail Access

As a pivotal figure within the leadership team of the Commercial Function at DP World Australia Limited, this position is tasked with the formulation and execution of commercial strategies, plans, and processes aimed at optimizing rail access efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Establish and uphold exceptional communication standards with DP World customers.
  2. Manage and nurture relationships with rail operators and intermodal terminal clients.
  3. Gain a comprehensive understanding of the specific needs of each customer line within DP World.
  4. Enhance development and interface solutions between clients and DP World to boost container flow and logistics efficiency.
  5. Deliver outstanding customer service through a profound understanding of our clients' requirements.
  6. Conduct statistical reporting and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and provide global and domestic market insights, alongside cost and pricing models.
  7. Create a contract monitoring framework to accurately interpret and report on DP World's performance against contractual obligations.
  8. Engage in negotiations with Rail Operators/Customers regarding Port Window access.
  9. Develop a thorough understanding of import and export freight volumes and strategies to enhance rail movement.
  10. Evaluate existing Port Windows and identify opportunities for improvement to maximize utilization.
  11. Establish and manage KPIs related to Window utilization with Rail Operators/Customers.
  12. Supply market intelligence, statistical data, volumes, revenue, and other critical information to support the annual budgeting process concerning DP World's rail initiatives.
  13. Perform ongoing analysis and comparisons of actual volumes and revenue against budgets, targets, and reforecasts.
  14. Oversee daily, weekly, and ad hoc communications with supply chain and intermodal customers.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
  1. Degree in Statistics, Business, Finance, or a related field.
  2. A minimum of 7 years' experience in Rail Operations with a solid understanding of Port Rail Access.
  3. Thorough knowledge of regulatory requirements in the rail sector.
  4. Experience in landside logistics and international supply chains.
  5. Proficient in computer applications, especially Excel and databases.
  6. Exceptional attention to detail.
  7. Strong numerical skills.
  8. Ability to think conceptually.
  9. Analytical mindset.
  10. Customer service orientation.
  11. Results-driven attitude.
