Job Title: Data Governance Specialist

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Risk and Compliance team. This role will be based in Sydney or Melbourne.

This is a hybrid role that requires working at least three days a week in the office.

The Data Governance Specialist will support the maintenance of a robust data framework for MMC Pacific. The role will be instrumental in identifying and managing data risks that may arise from business operations and initiatives.

This role will help foster a culture of data awareness throughout the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the enhancement and implementation of a robust data framework that enables compliance with relevant data protection laws and regulatory requirements across the organisation.
  • Develop, review, and maintain data policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and provide effective communication and training on requirements.
  • Undertake assessments of data related incidents ensuring timely investigation, reporting and resolution.
  • Conduct data risk assessments.
  • Monitor and oversee data practices to ensure compliance with applicable data protection laws and regulations including the review of data incidents and data risk assessments as required.
  • Prepare reports on data compliance status, incidents, and risk assessments to senior management.
Requirements:
  • Experience in a similar role in regulatory compliance or legal with experience in Australian financial services industry preferred.
  • Experience working in or providing services to a regulated financial services organisation, with a strong understanding of regulatory obligations and the ability to interpret and apply associated legislative requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyse and communicate complex matters in a commercially sensible way.
  • Ability to manage deliverables with rapidly changing priorities and demands.
  • Excellent organisational skills and an ability to work to tight deadlines.
