Data Governance Specialist

Establishing effective data governance is crucial for any organisation to succeed. This involves managing and protecting data assets while making them accessible to those who need them.

The Data Governance & Enablement Manager plays a pivotal role in achieving this balance. They will lead a team within the global Enterprise Data function, helping the organisation identify, classify, and manage its data assets securely, accurately, and compliantly.

Key responsibilities of the Data Governance & Enablement Manager include:

  • Defining roles and responsibilities for Data Owners, Data Stewards, and Data Custodians
  • Developing a framework for tracking data management risks and metrics for measuring the effectiveness of Data Governance initiatives
  • Ensuring data accuracy and completeness through quality controls and monitoring processes
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to identify critical data elements and establish their value and desired quality characteristics
  • Partnering with the wider Enterprise Data team to establish an approach to Reference and Master Data Management

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in data governance and management, a proven track record of establishing and leading a Data Governance team, and strong knowledge of core data management concepts beyond traditional data warehousing.

They will also possess critical thinking and commercial acumen, with the ability to frame data risks and opportunities in terms of commercial impact. Additionally, they will have confidence in having robust conversations with auditors, regulators, and internal stakeholders.
