Job Title: Elderly Population Policy Expert

Job Description:

This position involves leading the development of a comprehensive policy framework for Fiji's elderly population. The successful candidate will conduct in-depth analysis of demographic data and research on existing social protection initiatives to inform policy decisions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct situational analysis on ageing and the elderly population in Fiji
  • Review existing data on the needs of Fiji's elderly population, identifying key stakeholders and areas of improvement
  • Coordinate with policy stakeholders, including government and civil society actors, to develop a cohesive policy framework
  • Support technical capacity building for Ministry staff and sectoral stakeholders on ageing policy
Requirements:
  • Advanced degree in Demography, Social Work, or equivalent professional experience
  • 7-10 years professional experience in social policy, preferably in Ageing Policy and working with Indigenous Populations
  • Professional experience in demographic data collection and analysis, preferably in a developing country
  • Policy formulation experience in the Pacific region
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written
Deliverables:
  • Draft situational analysis presented for feedback and review
  • Final situational analysis, amended with feedback
  • Consultation plan presented for review and endorsement
  • Draft Policy on Ageing presented for feedback and review
  • Final Policy on Ageing endorsed by the Permanent Secretary
Reporting Lines:

The expert reports directly to the Permanent Secretary and engages with the Principal Welfare Officer for day-to-day management.
