About the Role

Our team requires a Behaviour Support Practitioner to provide positive behaviour support services to detainees with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disability, and other complex diagnoses.

You will work as part of our Welfare and Engagement Team, providing professional information and advice to detainees with complex needs, staff, and relevant stakeholders within the Immigration Detention Centre regarding evidence-based approaches to reducing challenging behaviours.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments relevant to the detainee's presenting issues, needs, and circumstances.
  • Provide functional behaviour analysis to assist in the development and implementation of the Detainee Behaviour Support Plan.
  • Support complex case reviews and provide support to site-based W&E personnel to identify and support at-risk detainees.

Requirements:

  • A degree in psychology, counselling, or social science is required.
  • Ability to conduct functional behaviour assessment and design function-based behaviour support plans.
  • Experience using evidence-based interventions and person-centred approaches in managing challenging behaviours.
  • Minimum 3 years experience working as a Behaviour Support Practitioner and providing positive behaviour support.
