Lead Logistics and Shipping Role at Vulcan

Vulcan, Australasia's highest performing metals distributor and processor, is seeking a highly skilled Logistics and Shipping Lead to join our team.

As a Logistics and Shipping Lead, you will be responsible for leading and managing a team of shipping team members, assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and ensuring targets are met. You will also provide coaching, mentoring, training, and performance feedback to team members, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating and overseeing all logistics and shipping activities, including reporting
  • Ensuring timely and accurate despatch of products, and communicating effectively where required due to delays
  • Analysing logistics and shipping processes to identify areas for improvement in efficiency, cost reduction, and service quality
  • Developing and implementing contingency plans to address unexpected challenges to minimize impact on Vulcan's operations
  • Monitoring key performance indicators such as shipping and documentation accuracy, and lead times, identifying potential risks and possible solutions

Requirements for the role include:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Experience in logistics/shipping and/or supply chain
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and divisions
  • Out of the box thinker with the ability to problem solve
  • Attention to detail
  • Customer Focused
  • Computer literacy, proficiency with MS Office, especially Outlook and Excel
  • Highly developed time management, organisational, and numerical skills
  • Ability to set priorities, monitor workflow, and improve efficiency of work practices
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • Ability to build rapport with suppliers and maintain relationships
