Vulcan, Australasia's highest performing metals distributor and processor, is seeking a Logistics and Shipping Manager to lead our shipping team and drive logistics and shipping operations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of shipping team members, assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and ensuring targets are met. They will also provide coaching, mentoring, training, and performance feedback to team members.

The Logistics and Shipping Manager will foster a collaborative and productive work environment, encouraging teamwork and continuous improvement. They will coordinate and oversee all logistics and shipping activities, including reporting, and ensure timely and accurate despatch of products.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership and team management skills, experience in logistics/shipping and/or supply chain, and effective communication and interpersonal skills. They will be an out of the box thinker with the ability to problem solve, have attention to detail, and be customer focused.

The Logistics and Shipping Manager will also be responsible for analysing logistics and shipping processes to identify areas for improvement in efficiency, cost reduction, and service quality. They will develop and implement contingency plans to address unexpected challenges and monitor key performance indicators such as shipping and documentation accuracy, and lead times.

The successful candidate will be a strong negotiator and influencer, able to build rapport with suppliers and maintain relationships. They will also have highly developed time management, organisational, and numerical skills, and be able to set priorities, monitor workflow, and improve efficiency of work practices.
