Urban Planning Director Position

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of strategic and statutory planning proposals and applications for the Regional South directorate.
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Metropolitan South team, overseeing two specialist teams that undertake strategic and statutory planning matters.
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders, including local government, state government agencies, and industry, to achieve planning outcomes.
- Manage the operational performance of the program area, ensuring administration of statutory functions is undertaken in compliance with relevant legislation or regulatory frameworks.
Requirements:
- An accredited tertiary degree qualification in Urban and Regional Planning and/or Development (or equivalent).
- Detailed working knowledge of the Western Australian planning system and WA planning framework with a strong understanding of complex structure planning proposals.
- Extensive experience working in the Western Australian planning system or transferable experience in similar systems, including demonstrated experience in both the implementation and design of the planning framework (statutory and strategic planning).
- Proven ability to respond to complex planning proposals and work proactively and collaboratively with stakeholders to achieve planning outcomes.
