Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Support Specialist

Our organization is dedicated to supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. The Murri Sisters Mobile Support Service and Cultural Advisory Service are pivotal in our mission to reduce domestic and family violence and provide culturally appropriate support.

  • Deliver mobile support services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, children, and young people experiencing domestic and family violence.
  • Manage cases effectively, including documentation, goal setting, and client engagement.
  • Communicate respectfully and inclusively, ensuring all interactions align with organizational values.
  • Collaborate with team members to enhance program policies and community relationships.
  • Adhere to compliance and office maintenance standards, ensuring safe and efficient operations.

**Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide cultural guidance and act as the identified Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander victim-survivor advocate in meetings.
  • Build networks and pathways to culturally appropriate DFV supports.
  • Provide broader advice on appropriate Integrated Service Responses (ISRs) to meet the unique needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people referred to the HRT.
  • Build the cultural capacity of the HRT through formal and informal training, opportunities, and activities.

**Essential Selection Criteria:**
• Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
• Possession of an unrestricted Queensland Driver's License.
• Working with Children Blue Card
• Own reliable transport and current Blue Card.
• First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain one.
• Experience or qualifications in Community Services, or a strong willingness to pursue this training.
