This role involves leading complex investigations ranging from high-risk incidents to threats to public safety, playing a key role in protecting people and the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead high-risk, complex investigations from initial response through to final recommendations.
  • Coach and support other investigators; oversee investigation processes and ensure alignment with national standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Guide local investigations with frontline leaders and embed learnings across the organization.
  • Engage with stakeholders to maintain a consistent and trusted approach to safety investigations.
  • Lead critical safety communications, including lessons learned and incident reviews shaping key messages across the business.
About You
  • Experience as an investigator with a sharp analytical mind, able to navigate complex issues with balanced judgment and integrity.
  • Strong communication skills, clear and persuasive messaging tailored to the audience.
  • Knowledge and experience in safety investigations, preferably within rail, transport, or other high-risk industries.
  • Ability to lead and coach others in investigation methodologies and just culture principles.
  • Understanding of Rail Safety National Law and relevant WHS legislation; qualifications in safety, WHS, risk management, or rail operations a plus.
