Medical Laboratory Assistant Job Description

This is a dynamic and challenging role that requires an individual to provide laboratory support and specimen reception services in a fast-paced environment.

The Medical Laboratory Assistant will be an integral part of the team, facilitating all laboratory operations with a focus on specimen reception. They will have a passion for health and supporting the community, as well as being dedicated to delivering high-quality services.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform a range of laboratory support services including specimen reception and collection.
  • Provide assistance to laboratory staff under supervision to deliver a patient-focused service.
  • Maintain high-quality work output while managing competing priorities.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, patients, and clinical staff.
  • Investigate and resolve general issues within the laboratory environment.
Requirements:
  • A working knowledge of the laboratory environment relevant to the Department.
  • Ability to maintain high-quality work output while managing competing priorities.
  • Excellent customer service skills and experience preferably in a laboratory setting.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills combined with the ability to investigate and resolve general issues.
  • Excellent data entry skills with high attention to detail and data accuracy.
