Job Title: Assistant Manager

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Assistant Manager to play a critical role in the assessment, classification, and sentence planning of individuals in custody who pose a risk of violent extremism.

This role will support the Department of Justice and Community Safety in identifying the needs of people in custody and matching them to appropriate correctional resources.

The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively and adapt to changing priorities.

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Conducting risk assessments and placement reviews for individuals in custody with a focus on countering violent extremism.
    • Reviewing and advising on the management of individuals in Management and High Security Units.
    • Maintaining prison portfolio responsibilities and liaising with prison management and key stakeholders.
    • Reviewing and approving Case Management Review Committee recommendations in line with policy.
    • Contributing to operational demand and vacancy management.
    • Preparing complex reports and contributing to policy and procedure development.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Knowledge of relevant policies, procedures, and legislation.
  • Experience or understanding of countering violent extremism is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to inclusive practices and cultural awareness.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience is desirable.
