Job Description:

Global logistics solutions provider seeks an Operational Audit and Compliance Specialist to oversee systems and compliance of multiple transport, warehouse, and major hazard facilities across Australia.

The successful candidate will be passionate about continuous improvement with an auditing mindset or experience in an industrials environment where compliance has been a core part of the remit. They will gain satisfaction from improving efficiency, implementing systems to mitigate risk of non-compliance and by providing mentorship and development of staff whilst effecting change management at a site level.

As the go-to person for all systems and compliance-related matters, the candidate will liaise with stakeholders including executive team, site managers, and regulatory bodies while managing systems and compliance programs and promoting a culture of safe work responsibility and accountability.

The Operational Audit and Compliance Specialist will be responsible for:

  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining compliance management strategies
  • Overseeing compliance programs and providing guidance and support to site managers and team members
  • Conducting compliance audits, investigating incidents and near misses, and managing any deficiencies
  • Driving change management initiatives to embed compliance in operations and processes
  • Providing regular reports to senior management on compliance performance
  • Maintaining relationships with key stakeholders to stay informed of regulatory changes and industry best practices
Required Skills and Qualifications:

The candidate should have:

  • Familiarity with management and handling of dangerous goods in a warehousing environment including storage, labeling, and segregation requirements
  • Experience in developing and implementing dangerous goods transport and warehousing management systems
  • Understanding of transport regulations including Chain of Responsibility (CoR) laws and National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) requirements
  • Ability to conduct compliance audits and assessments and develop and deliver training programs for staff involved in dangerous goods transport and warehousing
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work collaboratively with range of stakeholders
