About the Role

As a Practice Specialist in Wound Prevention and Management, you will play a pivotal role in promoting the highest standard of care and services to older people. You will serve as a Subject Matter Expert, providing expert consulting and advisory services to our Service Delivery teams, ensuring we uphold the best practices in pressure injury prevention and wound care management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate as a Subject Matter Expert, providing consulting and advisory services across Seniors Services.
  • Lead the process of policy and practice improvement, ensuring alignment with evidence-based practices.
  • Enhance Uniting's internal capability in pressure injury prevention and wound care management.
  • Promote consumer empowerment by encouraging active involvement in their own care.
  • Collaborate with service delivery teams to roll out new Models of Care and coach on best practices for wound management.
  • Develop and maintain practice standards, frameworks, and models that reflect current evidence and best practices.
  • Leverage program outcome data to inform practice improvements and innovations.
  • Identify training needs for Service Delivery teams and collaborate with Learning & Development teams to implement these.
  • Stay informed about the latest research and trends in wound care, contributing to research planning and service delivery innovations.
  • Engage with peak organisations and professional bodies to ensure Uniting's practices remain current and innovative.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Registered Nurse with AHPRA, Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in wound management, such as a Graduate Certificate or Diploma in Wound Care.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Registered Nurse, with a focus on wound/pressure injury management.
  • Proven expertise in wound management, including pressure injury prevention, preferably within aged care.
  • Experience in coaching, change management, and driving practice improvements in large, complex organisations.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency in electronic documentation systems, telehealth technology, and innovative care delivery methods.
