We are seeking a skilled Senior Cost Engineer to join our team in a dynamic and evolving work environment. This role will involve supporting project teams, mentoring junior staff, and playing a key role in cost management, forecasting, and budget control.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Translate complex data into clear actionable insights for stakeholders and project teams
  • Enhance and streamline cost control tools processes and procedures
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior cost control staff
  • Partner with project managers and budget holders to support effective financial oversight
  • Prepare timely and accurate periodic cost reports in consultation with internal teams
  • Coordinate with engineering teams to clarify discrepancies and contribute to risk mitigation strategies
  • Monitor expenditures analyse variances and present findings to relevant stakeholders
  • Forecast costs for project line items in collaboration with project teams
  • Assess potential variations and claims from subcontractors and vendors
  • Support ad hoc cost analyses and participate in project review meetings as required
  • Act as a liaison between engineering accounts and project teams to ensure financial clarity
  • Recommend process improvements for more effective cost control
  • Build and maintain historical cost databases for future reference
About You:
  • Several years of experience in the cost control function within the Oil & Gas or related process industries ideally on international large-scale projects with progressively increasing responsibilities including team leadership
  • A background in Quantity Surveying is highly regarded
  • Demonstrated expertise in cost control with fully developed technical competencies
  • Capable of establishing and enhancing standards procedures and processes
  • Experienced in developing project budgets aligned with standardised structures
  • Skilled in producing accurate cost forecasts to support project management objectives
  • Performs comprehensive variance analysis including quantities costs labour hours and productivity metrics
  • Ensures the accuracy and quality of deliverables produced by junior team members
  • Strong understanding of estimating methodologies and practices
  • Proficient in reviewing and refining estimates for changes in project scope or trends
  • Thorough knowledge of Work Breakdown Structure requirements across all project phases
