
Biosecurity Compliance Specialist

Our organisation is committed to making a positive impact in the community. As a Compliance Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our programs and services align with relevant legislation and regulations.
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual who can provide high-level advice to stakeholders and team members on biosecurity matters and applicable legislation. The successful candidate will have excellent information, evidence gathering and analysis skills, including the ability to write clear reports and statements of fact.
The key responsibilities of this role include:
- Responding to and investigating alleged breaches of legislation, including assisting with planning, information and evidence gathering, conducting interviews, collecting witness statements and preparing court briefs
- Exercising powers as an authorised officer under the Biosecurity Act 2014, as appropriate
- Providing accurate and timely advice to stakeholders and team members on biosecurity matters and applicable legislation
- Contributing to the continuous improvement, review and implementation of compliance strategies, plans and procedures
In addition to your technical skills and knowledge, you will need to possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders. You will also be required to maintain accurate records of facts and findings in relevant paper and information technology systems.

Mandatory requirements for this role include:
- A current unrestricted 'C' Class Driver's Licence
You may also have:
- Appointment as a Queensland Biosecurity Authorised Inspector or strong knowledge of the legal requirements of an authorised officer under a relevant Act or Regulation
- Experience in explaining compliance requirements to encourage voluntary compliance with biosecurity requirements
