Pest Management Officer Job Description:

Job Overview

This is a challenging and rewarding role that involves managing biosecurity risks, controlling designated pests, and ensuring best practice pest management to keep our community safe and sustainable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct surveillance of the region to identify biosecurity and public health risks associated with designated pests, mosquito breeding, vermin harbourage, and biosecurity matters including fire ants.
  • Safely use, transport, store, and dispose of pesticides and pest control products in line with legislative requirements.
  • Provide administrative support to the team, including handling telephone enquiries and other generalist administrative duties.
  • Participate in, contribute to, and provide commitment to team objectives such as continual improvement and on-the-job training for other team members.
Requirements

We are seeking a dedicated professional with strong knowledge of pest management, chemical handling and safety, and best practice control measures for pests such as mosquitoes, vermin, and fire ants.

The ideal candidate will have experience in interpreting and applying relevant legislation, conducting pest surveillance, habitat modification, and biosecurity control measures.

Demonstrated passion for environmental protection and public health is essential.
