About the Opportunity
The IFYS Child Protection Residential Care Programs support children and young people who require a safe, dependable, and nurturing living environment. Reporting to the Case Manager, Caring Youth Support Specialists deliver day-to-day care to young people in the Residential Care house.
A typical day may include supporting young people to manage challenging behaviors, planning or attending activities, and following daily routines to promote life-skills development. Caring Youth Support Specialists also complete case notes and admin tasks daily, as well as helping to maintain a clean and safe environment.
What's on Offer
- Casual employment with competitive hourly rates: $46.69 (inclusive of 25% loading) for base shifts, $51.36 for afternoon shifts, $52.29 for night shifts, $65.36 for Saturday shifts, and $84.04 for Sunday shifts
- Sleepover allowance: $57.99
- Not-for-profit salary packaging options (package up to $15,900 per FBT year)
- No rostered 24-hour shifts
- No use of personal vehicles on shift
- Dedicated on-call team for after-hours support
- Training opportunities including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention training, Preventing Child Sexual Exploitation, and Sanctuary Model of Care training
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to be flexible, adaptable, and open to learning. You must be able to build rapport quickly with young people displaying complex and challenging behaviors, while maintaining non-judgmental relationships. Resilience and good professional boundaries are essential.
You will also need to have basic computer skills and be comfortable completing admin tasks. Candidates with transferrable skills from working with vulnerable populations who display challenging behaviors are strongly encouraged to apply.
Essential Requirements
- A valid QLD Working With Children Blue Card or application pending
- A current, unrestricted driver's license
- Two references from recent employers, including your current line manager
- A Certificate IV or higher in a relevant field prior to commencing work
- Availability for a variety of different shifts over a fortnightly roster (day/evening/sleepover/weekend)
