About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Records Management Officer to join our team in Queensland, Australia. As a key member of our Enterprise Information Services Records Management team, you will be responsible for providing expert advice and support to school administrative staff on records management, information governance, and compliance with Queensland Government legislation and policies.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide guidance and support to school administrative staff on the appraisal and sentencing of large volumes of physical departmental records held within a school environment.
  2. Offer accurate advice on the preparation and defensible destruction of records, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  3. Identify records for transfer to Queensland State Archives for permanent retention, ensuring the preservation of historical documents.
  4. Provide expertise on the ongoing archiving and storage of physical records, including best practices and standards.
  5. Participate in project activities, such as progress reporting, risk identification, and liaison with project management and information management staff.
  6. Act as the accountable senior archivist, supporting school staff in preparing and disposing of records.
  7. Provide advice and recommendations to ensure compliance with Queensland Government legislation, policies, and procedures relating to recordkeeping, information management, and information governance.
Requirements
  • Experience in appraising and sentencing records of all formats to meet legislative obligations of a public sector agency.
  • Proven track record in managing records at a strategic governance level, ensuring consistency and integration with enterprise-wide processes and practices.
  • Ability to deliver support and guidance in full compliance with enterprise-wide records management practices in a large, diverse public sector organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to interact professionally with a wide range of departmental clients.
  • Capacity to train and mentor other staff in records management, promoting knowledge sharing and development.
Essential Requirements
  • Willingness and ability to travel by plane or car and work primarily on-site in schools across the State of Queensland due to the requirement to assess physical records that must stay on premise.
Salary and Benefits

The estimated annual salary for this position is AU$95,000 - AU$110,000, depending on qualifications and experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including opportunities for professional development, flexible working arrangements, and a supportive team environment.
