
Data Center Technician

We are seeking a skilled technical maintenance specialist to maintain the operational integrity of our critical infrastructure.
About the Role:The successful candidate will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance and corrective repairs within a data center operation, ensuring seamless operation of critical systems. This includes oversight of electrical and mechanical systems, including but not limited to:
- Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems
- Generators
- Chillers
- Electrical Distribution
- HVAC systems
- Building Management Systems (BMS) systems
- CMMS Work Dispatching
This position is part of the Critical Services job function, focusing on delivering technical maintenance services in high-stakes client environments.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct daily site inspections of all Mechanical & Electrical Engineering systems and technical equipment, including servicing and maintenance tasks
- Ensure that the site's environmental conditions are conducive to a safe and efficient work environment
- Respond promptly to Building Management System alarms and perform emergency repairs as necessary
- Collaborate with third-party vendors to ensure compliance with company-developed processes, procedures, and all applicable laws and regulations
- Notify management if subcontractor performance does not meet the requirements outlined in the Master Service Agreement
- Execute planned preventative maintenance (PM) and reactive maintenance on all equipment
- Monitor the Building Management System for running and alarm conditions, addressing HVAC-related client issues
- Perform building walkthroughs, taking meter readings from UPS, PDUs, and utilities
- Address facility and plant faults and defects with effective solutions
- Complete assigned work following established processes and procedures, adhering to all safety protocols and regulatory requirements
- Conduct routine quality checks to maintain comprehensive maintenance records
- Complete all required training to ensure the successful completion of job-related responsibilities
- Utilize existing procedures to solve straightforward problems, with limited discretion
- Minimum Certificate III in Electrotechnology Airconditioning & Refrigeration/ARC license
- Must be an Australian Citizen - NV1 vetting clearance
- Training in a technical discipline, having completed an apprenticeship or equivalent, with 2-4 years of job-related experience. A combination of experience and education will be considered in lieu of a diploma
- Ability to work shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the role
- Strong communication skills to effectively present information to internal departments, clients, management, and colleagues
- Ability to follow basic work routines and standards in the application of work
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset
- BASIC math skills, with the ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages, discounts, and markups
- Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and precision in all aspects of work
- Commitment to delivering exceptional results in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Familiarity with general maintenance and repair practices, including hands-on experience with power tools, electrical work, painting, and other related trades
