Harmony Gold Mining Company Limited is seeking a highly skilled Legal Counsel to join our team in Australasia. As a key member of our legal department, you will provide legal and company secretarial services to our companies in the region, ensuring good corporate governance and compliance with applicable regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide timely and commercially focused legal advice to our operations team, including drafting and reviewing contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
  2. Work closely with our operations team to provide legal services in connection with our mining operations, including extensions and expansions.
  3. Collaborate with our Eva Copper Project team to provide legal services in connection with the construction, development, and operation of the Eva Copper mine.
  4. Assist our Growth & New Business team in providing legal services in connection with the investigation, evaluation, negotiation, due diligence, and acquisition of new business opportunities.
  5. Advise and negotiate commercial agreements, including goods, services, consultancy, construction, project, and other contracts.
  6. Provide legal services in connection with employment issues arising in both Australia and Papua New Guinea.
  7. Manage litigation and advise on potential claims.
  8. Manage the engagement and performance of external legal advisors as required.
  9. Prepare resolutions, corporate registers, and other corporate minutes for our companies in Australia and Papua New Guinea.
  10. Liaise with external government and other agencies to prepare, exchange, and file returns, reports, and related correspondence.
About You

To succeed in this role, you should be a self-motivated and efficient individual with the following qualifications and experience:

  1. Admitted as a solicitor in one or more States in Australia (or equivalent qualifications from overseas and taking steps to be admitted in Australia).
  2. Minimum 4 years' experience in a similar role.
  3. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
  4. Experience in project, construction, and/or resources law (desirable).
  5. Experience in-house with a mining company or engineering firm providing services to the resource sector (desirable).
