Key Responsibilities
  • Provide timely and practical legal advice on a range of legal issues affecting the University.
  • Interpret, draft, and negotiate commercial legal arrangements, including IT, QITC, and general procurement contracts.
  • Conduct matters where the University is a party to legal proceedings, including reviewing court documents and attending tribunals.
  • Provide advice on changes to legislation affecting the University's operations.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to represent the University on negotiations and facilitate contract arrangements.
  • Supervise and mentor junior team members.
  • Lead and promote compliance with relevant legislation and University policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in law and eligibility for admission as a solicitor or barrister in the Supreme Court of Queensland.
  • At least 10 years of post-graduation experience in commercial law, with a high level of legal practice experience.
  • Ability to analyse issues, undertake complex research, and exercise judgment on significant issues at a corporate level.
  • Full unrestricted Australian work rights and subject to a National criminal history check.
