Health Informatics and Decision Science Specialist

The successful candidate will oversee the Clinical Coding service and Activity Based Funding patient care streams, ensuring comprehensive, accurate and timely translation of clinical documentation/data values into appropriate code sets in accordance with district, state and national guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Clinical Coding service and ABF patient care streams
  • Ensure precise and timely data conversion to relevant code sets
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams for enhanced data quality and accuracy
  • Develop and implement clinical coding policies and procedures
  • Analyze and report clinical coding data for business decision-making

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Health Information Management, Health Informatics or equivalent experience
  • Excellent leadership and management skills
  • Demonstrated sound clinical coding knowledge and expertise using ICD-10-AM, Australian Coding Standards and 3M Encoder
  • Experience in Activity Based Funding and class derivation for sub-acute/non-acute, emergency, mental health and non-admitted care
  • Strong analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in developing reports, identifying trends, issues and risks
  • Experience in eMR, patient administration systems and Microsoft Office
  • Outstanding interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
