Job Summary

Skillfully manage media and drive a company's voice forward.

This key role requires strategic communication expertise, fostering strong relationships with journalists, crafting compelling media releases and opinion pieces, and working in tandem with social media specialists.

Key responsibilities include managing reactive media enquiries, delivering proactive content, conducting interviews, briefing spokespeople, creating collateral, drafting speeches for speakers' bureau, and developing necessary reports.

Responsibilities
  • Media Engagement – Effectively respond to reactive media enquiries, deliver proactive content, manage interviews, brief spokespeople, and develop necessary collateral.
  • Speechwriting – Craft compelling speeches for the speakers' bureau, ensuring alignment with media content and policy objectives.
  • Content Creation – Develop and post engaging content that supports media activity, providing backup to social media specialists when required.
  • Issues & Crisis Management – Collaborate with senior communications professionals to manage issues and crises as they arise.
  • Reporting & Analysis – Utilize media monitoring platforms to deliver daily news updates, provide tailored reports, track emerging issues, and share insights with stakeholders.

Requirements
  • Proven Media Relations Expertise – A track record of generating positive coverage that supports business and advocacy objectives.
  • Advocacy & Political Awareness – Strong understanding of traditional and social media roles in advocacy, including knowledge of political processes, government, and peak bodies.
  • Exceptional Writing Skills – Ability to craft compelling media releases, opinion pieces, speeches, and briefing materials.
  • Relationship Building – Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, pitch stories effectively, and create engaging content.
  • Insights & Continuous Improvement – Familiarity with media monitoring, analytics, and emerging trends to identify issues early and continuously improve communication outcomes.
